Overview:

As my first self-guided project in Stanford’s Product Realization Lab, I designed and manufactured a hanging wall vanity. While I had difficulty thinking of a product that I needed, especially one that would require a great deal of effort and time invested, I used my design thinking cap and found parts of my day and living space that I wanted to improve.

I wanted a mirror in my room that I could use for my skincare routine in the morning and night without the watchful eyes of my roommates. I also wanted a place to store my earrings and rings, a newly habitual purchase since I pierced my ears. After prototyping and modeling my design, I used a combination of manufacturing processes to produce the realized product: water jet cutting, laser jet cutting, sheet metal bending, and riveting.
